This is a quick and dirty intro to Unity and VR. The goal is to make a VR diorama by placing a number of objects in an empty scene and viewing the result in a headset. It doesn’t require any coding on the students’ or teachers part. It can be extended as far as the participants are comfortable.
This course will teach students how to make a simple, but complete, game using free software and tutorials. It will encourage independent use of information resources provided by the library, such software training available on Lynda.com and textbooks. Students should have basic computer skills and be comfortable navigating Windows and searching the internet. The course is intended for those thirteen and up but could be followed by anyone, depending on their level of experience. The goal is to promote learning through creative engagement and give students the skills and confidence to develop software independently or continue with more advanced classes.
